Tokyo Metropolitan Health and Medical Information Center provides information about medical institutions with staff who can speak foreign languages including over 780 hospitals and clinics capable of offering consultation in English in the Special Zone areas as well as their locations and fields of medical treatment.

Moreover, utilizing special provision to bilateral agreements between Japan and each country, foreign doctors can treat foreign patients of any nationality at medical institutions in the Tokyo Area National Strategic Special Zone. Keio University Hospital, Juntendo University Hospital, St. Luke’s International Hospital, and St. Luke’s MediLocus are newly employing foreign doctors to treat foreign patients.

Furthermore, the following hospitals in Tokyo have obtained accreditation from the JCI*, a global accrediting organization for international healthcare organizations.

* JCI (Joint Commission International): A global, knowledge-based organization that provides leadership and innovative solutions to help international healthcare organizations. JCI is created by the Joint Commission, a US standards-setting and accrediting body in healthcare. JCI conducts a hospital survey covering 1,220 standers in 14 chapters focusing on "patient safety" and "quality improvement on patient care". JCI has accredited or certified more than 450 healthcare organizations in over 50 countries around the world.
