Tokyo Financial Award - RESOLUTION OF TOKYO RESIDENTS' NEEDS
Decision reached on which financial institutions passed the initial screening
As one of the initiatives of the "Global Financial City: Tokyo" Vision, announced in November last year, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is holding the Tokyo Financial Award to honor financial service providers who are developing or providing outstanding financial products/services that address the needs and issues of Tokyo residents, or who are engaged in the further growth of ESG investments *.
Based on the needs and challenges Tokyo residents feel daily when it comes to financial services, 20 themes were decided on for the "Resolution of Tokyo Residents' Needs" category. From September 14th to October 16th, the Award welcomed applications from both Japanese and foreign financial institutions who offered solutions that aligned with these themes.
As a result, applications were received from 55 financial institutions across 16 countries and regions (including Japan). We are pleased to announce the three financial institutions that were selected in the initial screening.
* ESG ("Environment, Social, Governance") refers to investment decisions based on an institution's proactive efforts in combating global warming, empowering women, selecting outside directors, etc.
