Tokyo Financial Award
- Announcing the Winners of the Tokyo Financial Award
As one of the initiatives of the "Global Financial City: Tokyo" Vision, announced in November, 2017, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is holding the Tokyo Financial Award to honor financial service providers who are developing or providing outstanding financial products/services that address the needs and issues of Tokyo residents, or who are engaged in the further growth of ESG investments *.
Based on the needs and challenges Tokyo residents feel daily when it comes to financial services, 20 themes were decided on for the "Resolution of Tokyo Residents' Needs" category. From September 14th to October 16th, 2018, the Award welcomed applications from both Japanese and foreign financial institutions who offered solutions that aligned with these themes.
As a result, applications were received from 55 financial institutions across 16 countries and regions (including Japan).
In "ESG Investment" category, applications were received from 40 financial institutions across 10 countries and regions (including Japan).
The winners of the Award have been decided. Details follow below.
* ESG ("Environment, Social, Governance") refers to investment decisions based on an institution's proactive efforts in combating global warming, empowering women, selecting outside directors, etc.
